Using Signal Analysis to Predict Epileptic Seizures
[2024-present]

NeuroPhysics Research Lab, Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA
Lab Director: Dr. Mukesh Dhamala

  • Using MATLAB scripts to analyze intracranial electroencephalography (iEEG) data to assess net causal influence between channels during preictal and ictal periods across frequency bands.
  • Applying frequency-specific methods to test the source-sink hypothesis and identify seizure onset zones (SOZs) by examining dynamic network shifts.

Music App for Stroke Patient Recovery
[2023-present]

Music Cognition and Creativity Lab, Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA
Lab Director: Dr. Martin Norgaard

  • Served as lead composer on the development of an in-home music motor-therapy app to support stroke rehabilitation through piano training, providing an alternative to traditional occupational therapy methods.
  • Composed, recorded, and produced original music tailored to occupational therapy intervention protocols for app integration.

Effect of Selective Frequency Band Gain Adjustment on Music Appreciation with Cochlear Implants
[2021 – 2022]

AP Research, Cary High School, Cary, NC
Research Mentor: Dr. Josh Stohl, Director of Research at Med-El Corporation.
AP Research Instructor: Patrick Jessee, Cary High School.

  • SUMMARY: Researched the correlation between amplitude modulation of a frequency range containing a melodic line within a spectrally complex musical excerpt and the perceived sound clarity of specifically that melody using Cochlear Implant -MUltiple Stimulus with Hidden Reference and Anchor (CI-MUSHRA).

Spectral Analysis of Melodic and Percussive Auditory Stimulation in Comparison to Med-El Cochlear Implant Frequency Ranges
[2021]

North Carolina Summer Ventures in Science and Math
East Carolina University, Greenville, NC
Research Mentors: Dr. John Kenney and Dr. Mark Sprague, ECU Physics Department

  • SUMMARY: Compared the power spectral density of melodic and percussive auditory stimuli to the frequency ranges of a Med-El cochlear implant. Identified ways to adjust music composition to improve the listening experience for cochlear implant users.
  • RESEARCH PAPER:
  • AWARDS, RECOGNITION:

Research was presented at the East Carolina University physics projects final conference for the 2021 Summer Ventures in Science and Math, a highly competitive summer research program for high school juniors and seniors.
